The Common School, a progressive PreK-6th grade school in Western Massachusetts, seeks a dynamic full-time Associate Teacher to work collaboratively with the Head Teacher in its Elementary 2 Program. The School is surrounded by 140 acres of farm, woodland, ponds, gardens, and conservation land. Salary Range-$33,000-$43,000

Qualifications preferred:

• Master’s in education or related field
• MA Licensure
• Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, progressive pedagogy, and professional development
• 2 years of teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities include:

• Foster a classroom community that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice;
• Communicate and maintain high standards for classroom management using positive and restorative approaches;
• Plan and implement mission-based integrated units of study;
• Teach reading, spelling, writing, and mathematics;
• Differentiate approaches to benefit a range of learners;
• Work closely with and support teaching partners;
• Coordinate with colleagues across age groups to ensure continuity;
• Communicate thoughtfully and effectively with colleagues, students, and families;
• Share in the supervision of lunch,outdoor breaks, and transitions;
• Participate in regularly-scheduled faculty meetings and professional development;
• Engage in reflective practice and dialogue to promote ongoing professional growth;
• Other duties as assigned.
