The City of Independence is seeking a responsible, hardworking, dedicated, friendly, energetic, and fun individual with a passion for serving the community to care for youth ages 6 months to 9 years in the Civic Center "Tot" Room!

Days, Hours & Additional Employment Details :

The Tot Room Team Member is a permanent, part-time position, working 12 hours a week, Monday - Thursday from 4 PM to 7 PM.

There will be weeks periodically throughout the year where working evenings, weekends and holidays are required that may result in an adjusted schedule and / or compensatory or overtime.

Duties and Responsibilities :

• Engage youth ages 6 months to 9 years in a variety of activities, including games, toys, puzzles, etc.
• Develop positive relationships with Tot Room children as well as their families
• Ensure the cleanliness of the Tot Room, including disinfecting toys and furniture
• Respond to emergency situations as necessary, including performing first aid and / or CPR
• Assist the Community Services Team in executing and implementing additional programs, activities, events, and / or services
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education :

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent (Preferred)

Experience :

• Minimum of one (1) year of group childcare experience
• CPR & First-Aid Certified (Preferred)

Physical Demands :

The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Must be able to work in the office, remote work will not be an option unless special circumstances or accommodations are made.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand;

walk; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and be able to lift up to 20 lbs when necessary.
