A Zoning Planning Assistant job is available with the City of Fort Worth Development Services Department. The Zoning Section is responsible for providing recommendations to the Zoning Commission and City Council on zoning changes for the city, which determine how the city will achieve its vision of being the most livable and best managed city in the country. This section directly supports the city’s Zoning Administrator and the Zoning Commission. However, the planning assistant may also assist other boards and commissions that the department supports on an as needed basis. The planning assistant’s role is pivotal in helping to facilitate these responsibilities. The chosen candidate must be detail-oriented, highly-organized, and have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Finally, this position must have the ability to communicate in writing and verbally with internal staff and the general public.
The primary purpose of this position is to assist in maintaining the integrity of the City’s land use regulations through the administration of the Zoning Ordinance. This includes evaluating applications for rezoning, sending legal notifications, and customer interface.

If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work.
