Job Summary
Crisis Clinician will be responsible for providing crisis screenings for children ages 5 to 17, maintaining the crisis center phone line and providing resources and guidance to families as needed.
Clinicians will greet families and begin with triage --- obtaining the reason for presenting, explain the crisis process and obtain consent to treat. Clients who present to the crisis center typically are experiencing active suicidal/homicidal ideations, displaying behaviors that they may intentionally or unintentionally harm themselves/others, displaying psychotic symptoms, or extreme levels of depression or anxiety, interfering with their ability to safely maintain themselves in home, school, or community settings. Clinicians must be prepared to help families see beyond the crisis and assist them in finding hope by identifying natural supports, coping skills, and safety plans, using Motivational Interviewing, psychoeducation, active listening, mindfulness, and other clinical techniques. Clinicians will complete crisis screening to determine the level of care needed for child and consult with psychiatrist Clinicians will provide families with 24 hour and 7 day follow up to check how child is progressing.
