Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Activity Assistant to join our team. As an Activity Assistant, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by planning and implementing engaging activities. You will work closely with the Administrator to create a positive and stimulating environment for our senior residents.

Duties:

- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of recreational programs and activities for residents in a nursing home setting

- Provide support and assistance to residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed

- Engage residents in social, physical, and cognitive activities to promote overall well-being

- Assist with scheduling and coordinating activities, ensuring they are diverse and appealing to a wide range of interests

- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and progress

- Collaborate with other staff members to ensure a cohesive approach to resident care

- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents

- Assist with dementia care activities, utilizing appropriate techniques and approaches

- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff members

Skills:

- Strong knowledge of recreational therapy principles and techniques

- Understanding of aging issues and counseling techniques

- Experience working in a nursing home or senior care facility is preferred

- Ability to assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs)

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

- Strong organizational skills for schedule management

- Knowledge of dementia care practices and techniques is a plus

- Familiarity with social work principles is beneficial

- Ability to adapt activities to meet the needs of individuals with memory care needs

Pay: $12.50 - $13.00 per hour
