Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Business Services Support Coordinator oversees functions related to collections, eligibility, contract release activities on resident accounts, legal communications with Student Housing residents, and CSU Legal Counsel. The incumbent handles abandonments, 3-day notices, and unlawful detainers, and attends court hearings when applicable to represent the University in court.

  • Collaborates with the Intensive English Program (IEP) Manager, Residential Computing Resources (RCR), and Operations on IEP allocations along with multiple departments within the University.
  • Acts as the EOP resilient scholar’s liaison, provides information to foster youth about resources in Student Housing and on campus.
  • Coordinates allocations and compliance with the Athletics Department for athletes living on campus as well as the CSUN Basic Needs unit for students residing in Temporary Emergency Housing
  • Locates and contacts individuals or organizations to collect past due monies from third party and conference/meeting space receivables.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Equivalent to three (3) years of increasingly responsible financial record-keep experience, including two years in collections, lending or a related area or any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
  • Experience working in a university setting and working with college-aged students preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of: financial record-keeping procedures and practices; interviewing techniques; general office procedures and practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations and university policies and procedures related to collection programs.
  • Ability to: keep records and write clear reports; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; speak, read and write at a level appropriate to the position; perform mathematical calculations; use calculating machines, personal computers, and/or automated accounting systems; work independently, exercise considerable judgment, follow through on detail, apply policies and procedures to specific situations; use judgment and initiative in applying policies and procedures to difficult and unusual situations; gather and analyze information; follow through on detail; and compile data for reports.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.
  • Classification/grade: 1759 / Collections Rep II / 1
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $3505 - $4173 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $3505 - $5985 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
  • REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period. 
  • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
