Job Description

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time Project Manager . The Project Manager is responsible for leading teams to deliver project(s) that span across one or more business units. Manage resources, schedules, financials and adhere to federal government quality control guidelines throughout the full program delivery life cycle. This also includes management of client risks and project change requests to ensure successful and on-time project delivery. Contribute to process improvement initiatives as it relates to improving project delivery while exceeding customer expectations. Supervises all personnel assigned to the project including time coding, leave approval, training, performance management and disciplinary actions.

This role has the authority to run the project(s) on a day-to-day basis and is responsible for ensuring the project achieves the required quality of deliverables within the specified constraints of time and cost and to achieve the potential benefits defined by the client. Also, responsible for supporting and maintaining the company culture that fosters creativity, innovation, and advancement.

The successful candidate must have experience in providing strategic direction and solutions in order to achieve the best value asset management and operating cost efficiencies as well as optimize it’s supporting technology, process, and people.

The Project Manager will also have the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues and ensure overall program is aligned to and directly support the achievement of strategic objectives
  • Maintain full project life cycle ownership: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment to delivery for one or more initiatives simultaneously
  • Manage project scope and changes
  • Prepare cost estimates and detailed project plans for all phases of the project
  • Performs internal quality control reviews to ensure projects and programs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards; analyze issues and troubleshoot problem areas; develops risk mitigation strategies; monitors and tracks resolution of issues and conflicts to ensure critical path deliverables
  • Define success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project and program life cycle
  • Provide status reporting regarding project milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership Develop and deliver program presentations to various audiences, including project team, clients, CEO and key stakeholders
  • Secure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes
  • Provide on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources and chair the project management team meetings
  • Monitor staff performance and complete performance reviews
  • Set and continually manage project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project and program team.
  • Continue professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods and best practices
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Will require up to 25% travel

Required Experience & Skills

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships by engaging business leaders to establish credibility, solve problems, build consensus and achieve objectives
  • Experience in successfully leading projects and programs to on-time, on-schedule and within budget
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands
  • Understanding of interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs
  • Demonstrate a functional acumen to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices
  • Experience drafting and submitting budget proposals and recommending subsequent budget changes where necessary
  • Proven success in providing on-site leadership for project team by building and motivating technical and non-technical team members to meet project goals, adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones
  • Experience leading, motivating and managing various project and program team sizes, including internal and external resources, while holding team accountable for performance
  • Experience influencing and gaining buy-in from executives’ sponsors, team members, stakeholders and peers
  • Experience working both independently and, in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Flexible with proven ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products
  • Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies
  • Must support diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Technically competent with various software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio), Microsoft Projects, and SmartSheet

Preferred Experience

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred

Required Education

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
  • 12 years of project management experience, including tracking and planning projects
  • 12 years of experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment
  • 12 years of previous experience with gathering requirements from the client / business and documentation
