Position Overview
The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) supports more than 21,000 professionals focused on treating people with kidney diseases. The Data Operations and Systems Manager provides project support and direction, administrative support and oversight, and research support for the Excellence in Patient Care (EPC) team within ASN. The successful candidate will have a strong data management and analysis background with nephology experience (preferred), experience in project management and leadership, and be focused on EPC’s mission “committed to ensuring, championing, and advancing excellence in patient care for all people with kidney diseases”. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the infrastructure necessary to ensure the successful completion of deliverables in contracts and agreements with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other government and organizational partners.
The Data Operations and Systems Manager works in a team environment with the Vice President for Excellence in Patient Care (VP EPC), the EPC staff, and physician (and other clinical) volunteers to improve professionals’ ability to advance care for hundreds of thousands of people with kidney diseases.
Key Responsibilities
· Provides project support including:
o Tracking general progress of all EPC initiatives and working with the team to address any areas of concern.
o Developing, implementing, and maintaining the Smartsheet project management tool.
o Creating reporting tools for staff and Project Committee members to help EPC advance specific goals and agendas and inform key audiences.
o Developing and maintaining project databases to perform quality checks and implement Plan, Do, Study, Act (PDSA) science to monitor progress toward project goals.
o Providing analytical support to help assess progress on specific projects and inform future decisions including business case analysis.
o Develop resource material using the latest technology (videos, AI, electronic platforms, etc.) to support project goals.
o Creates training and education opportunities for kidney disease professionals and patients.
o Utilizes best demonstrated practices to inform project development and affect outcomes.
o Establishing and updating standard operating procedures for EPC administration and integrating those efforts with ASN departments as needed.
· Works collaboratively with ASN staff to further the mission of EPC.
· Serves as content subject matter expert for kidney disease, dialysis, and transplant.
· Performs literature reviews and data analyses; synthesizes summaries and recommendations.
· Contributes to and supports strategic planning to further the mission of EPC.
· Participates in the support of meetings, including those held during Kidney Week, as assigned.
· Builds strong and lasting relationships with kidney professionals, community partners, and key ASN staff.
· Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and the area.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is required and nephrology is preferred.
· Proven project management skills, including ability to manage multiple deadlines and accommodate shifting priorities.
· Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and effectively.
· High energy, positive attitude, ability to work collaboratively, and manage work independently.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
· Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet.
· Experience with database management.
· Experience with data analytics.
· Proven ability to research and synthesize findings.
· Ability to travel domestically approximately 3 - 4 times per year.
· Experience with marketing and social media techniques preferred.
· Familiarity with quality improvement processes and terminology.
· Experience with the development of traditional and online learning resources.
This position is based in Washington, DC, where we employ a hybrid work environment (80 days per year in the office required).
