Finance Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Finance to join our non-profit/government organization. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring fiscal integrity, and providing strategic financial guidance to support our organization's mission. The Director of Finance will play a key role in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting, while also ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and accounting standards.

Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Planning and Strategy:
  • Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads to establish realistic financial targets.
  • Conduct financial analysis and forecasting to support informed decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Assess and mitigate financial risks, identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation.
  1. Financial Management and Reporting:
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Provide financial analysis and reports to senior management and the board of directors, highlighting key metrics and trends.
  • Maintain a strong internal control environment, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and accounting standards.
  1. Grants and Funding Management:
  • Manage the financial aspects of grant proposals, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and reporting obligations.
  • Collaborate with program managers to track grant expenditures and ensure proper allocation of funds.
  • Prepare financial reports for grantors, demonstrating accountability and transparency in the use of funds.
  1. Compliance and Audit:
  • Stay updated on relevant financial regulations, accounting principles, and best practices in the non-profit/government sector.
  • Coordinate and support external audits and reviews, ensuring accurate and timely provision of financial documentation.
  • Work closely with auditors to address any findings and implement recommended improvements.
  1. Leadership and Team Management:
  • Provide effective leadership to the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Mentor and develop staff members, promoting professional growth and cultivating a culture of continuous learning.
  • Collaborate with other departments, serving as a financial advisor and providing guidance on resource allocation and financial implications of strategic initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in financial management, preferably in the non-profit or government sector.
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, and accounting principles.
  • Familiarity with grants management, including compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial software systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
