Major/Essential Functions Supervises residents and medical students in a clinical setting Provides performance evaluations, skill testing, and mentoring of residents, fellows, and medical students Participates in resident and faculty recruitment Attends and participates in morbidity-mortality and journal clubs Provides patient care in the Emergency Department Serves as medical control physician for El Paso EMS while on duty in the Emergency Department Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship Assists the Department Chair with the implementation of departmental policies and monitoring staffing effectivenes Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance such as committee work and emergency medicine professional organizations Adheres to institutional and departmental safety policies and procedures Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine's Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility Required Qualifications MD or DO degree Successful completion of ACGME-accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine Successful completion of advanced emergency medicine ultrasonography fellowship training, or experience in emergency medicine ultrasonography with evidence of a minimum of 200 reviewed scans Texas Medical License, or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas Preferred Qualifications Experience with education of residents and medical students. Evidence of growth in clinical teaching, and research activities related to the specialty. Knowledge of Medical Spanish ACLS/PALS/ATLS certifications Board certification in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine for the rank of assistant professor or higher Focused Practice Designation in advanced emergency medicine ultrasonography by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
