Requisition ID 36333BR Work Location El Paso Org Level 1 Texas Tech Unv Hlth Sci Ctr El Paso Campus HSC - El Paso Department Emergency Medicine Elp Genl Major/Essential Functions Provides patient care in the emergency department setting Serves in administrative role as Director of Interprofessional Medical Education Oversees and provides clinical training and assessment for students and GME learners who are at and rotating with TTUHSC El Paso Leads the planning, coordination, and assessment of the simulation-based education curriculum for the Department of Emergency Medicine Assists the Executive Director of the Training and Educational Center for Healthcare Simulation (TECHS) by providing administrative leadership for healthcare simulation learning, including goal-setting, planning, budgeting, and equipment control for future upgrades Facilitates simulation sessions offered at TECHS for all disciplines Reviews, evaluates, and assesses simulation activities at TECHS to support performance improvement and accreditation Supervises residents and medical students while on clinical shifts, and provides resident and medical student evaluation, testing, and counseling Performs assessment and provides feedback on scenario/curriculum implementation for programs at TECHS Provides review of debriefing and student assessment techniques used by educators/faculty at TECHS Assists in the development and oversight of fellowship training in healthcare simulation at TECHS Stays current on areas of simulation-based education and medical care, incorporating these techniques into clinical and simulation-based teaching Maintains academic standards as established by the school and the University Contributes to the community through academically-related public service complementary to the institutional mission Engages in advancement of scientific knowledge through research and/or scholarship Serves the academic community through participation in institutional governance, such as committee work and other administrative duties Maintains membership in and serves as an active member of at least one healthcare simulation professional society Performs other duties as assigned Ensures compliance with HIPAA and billing regulations Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine’s Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility Required Qualifications MD or DO degree Successful completion of ACGME-accredited residency training in Emergency Medicine Licensure as a Physician in the State of Texas, or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas Preferred Qualifications Board certification in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine A minimum of Two (2) years of teaching experience in a GME program Successful completion of a fellowship training in healthcare simulation Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator, Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist, or similar simulation specific training/certification Experience with educational/instructional design, learner assessment, and curriculum implementation Success in in scholarly and research endeavors EEO Statement As an EEO/AA employer, the Texas Tech University System and its components will not discriminate in our employment practices based on an applicant’s race, ethnicity, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, genetic information or status as a protected veteran.
