Position Description Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Major/Essential Functions Direct communication with faculty, residents, and students to develop, submit, and assist in the implementation of new research studies. Maintains documentation and provides guidance to investigators to comply with Institutional Review Board, federal, state and local human subject research requirements. Assists principal investigators/faculty in the development of study budgets for external and commercial studies. Oversees the financial aspects of research studies through the Unit. Works with Audit Services/Compliance on all research related audits including responses to findings. Assists with the development and maintenance of the Unit annual budget and supporting funds. Manages daily/regular activities of the Unit to include purchasing, maintenance and processing of documentation, administrative support to the Executive Director, adherence to operating policies, etc. Responsible for the organization and development of the Annual Research Day activities, posters, abstracts, awards, etc. Preferred Qualifications Previous work experience in the area of research, previous financial management experience, be an independent starter, proficient computer skills, and possess excellent oral and written interpersonal skills. Pay Statement Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
