TMRS Overview

The Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) is a statewide public retirement system established in 1948 to provide retirement, disability and death benefits to employees and retirees of participating Texas cities. TMRS manages $36 billion in assets for more than 930 Texas cities. TMRS provides excellent compensation and benefits. Job Summary:

Benefit Administration (BA) is a TMRS core function, and BA Analysts process retirement applications, maintain Member account information, calculate benefit amounts, and provide other services for members, retirees, and beneficiaries. Analysts process routine requests with the opportunity to functionally cross-train and learn more technical processes.

Competitive minimum salary of $50,000 and commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Reviews, researches and processes Member requests and provides detailed information on retirement eligibility, benefits, and other related account information. Interprets and explains TMRS statute, rules and policy.
• Provides high-level customer service to both internal and external stakeholders via telephone, written correspondence, and in person. 
• Responds to escalated inquiries

Qualifications


• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred,
• Ability to communicate information and processes in a way that is easily understood,
• Skill in reviewing documentation and properly applying statute, rules, policies and procedures,
• Attention to detail and the ability to accurately complete work in a high-volume environment,
• Ability to navigate various information technologies,
• Effectively identify solutions using problem solving skills.

Preferred qualification: Two years related experience in pension benefit administration or related administrative or customer service work.

Physical Requirements
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10lbs of force. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
