Description
PURPOSE
The Maintenance Technician for Islander Housing at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is responsible for performing repairs and maintenance on university housing facilities, including residence halls and apartment-style living units.
The technician will work under the direction of the Housing Maintenance Supervisor to ensure that all facilities are in good condition and safe for residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform regular maintenance and repairs on residential facilities, including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting, HVAC, and other systems.
Conduct regular inspections of residential units to identify and address potential maintenance issues before they become larger problems.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repair work completed.
Work with contractors and vendors as needed to complete larger maintenance projects.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Housing Maintenance Supervisor.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or training in maintenance or construction fields preferred.
One (1) year of related experience in building maintenance.
Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and other building systems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with residents, staff, and contractors.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work on-call and after hours as needed.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to stand, walk, climb stairs, and work in cramped or awkward positions for extended periods of time.
Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SEE
Previous experience in building maintenance in a university or other large residential setting is preferred.
