General Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented, Austin area, part-time bookkeeper to assist in managing our company's financial transactions. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting skills, experience with bookkeeping software, and the ability to work independently. The bookkeeper is responsible for all bookkeeping, as well as assisting with payroll and financial reporting. This includes, grant reviews, site visits, and assistance with audits. The Bookkeeper is responsible for providing administrative support to the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and Human Resources in the areas of finances, grant compliance.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintain Financial Records:Record daily financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Data Entry: Enter and maintain financial data in bookkeeping software
Grant Compliance: The Bookkeeper will assist executive management with oversight of grant reporting.
Reconcile Accounts:Verify and reconcile bank and credit card accounts, investigate discrepancies, and correct errors as needed.
Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process and manage invoices, ensure timely payments, and follow up on outstanding accounts. Work directly with staff to accurately process travel and other expense reimbursements.
Payroll Processing: Assist with payroll, ensuring accurate calculation and distribution of wages.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and generate monthly and quarterly financial reports for management.
Tax Compliance: Assist in preparing documents for tax filing and maintain accurate tax records. Ensure accurate and timely compliance with all IRS and government regulations in regards to taxes, contribution acknowledgements, and health and welfare plan filings (as applicable).
Budget Management: Monitor and report on the company's budget performance. Assist with the preparation of the annual budget by providing data-driven insight to the agency’s revenue and expenditures.
Assist with Audits: Help prepare documents and provide information for audits.
Other Duties: Support the finance department with additional tasks as needed. Perform other special projects as assigned by Chief Financial Officer.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; Certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Previous bookkeeping experience preferred, especially in a small business or non-profit setting.
Proficiency with bookkeeping or accounting software and ability to prepare and produce spreadsheets.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Administrative skills for filing financial records
Multi-tasking and organizational skills to manage different financial duties, including the ability to prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles.
Confidentiality: Discretion is a must.
Interpersonal and customer service skills for dealing with vendors, suppliers, and employees within the organization.
Must have reliable transportation
Must reside in and be eligible to work in the State of Texas. Preferred cities: Austin and the surrounding area.
Compensation is commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits including paid time-off, vacation, and holidays.
