Texas Advocacy Project is Hiring a Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator Near Austin, TX

General Description:

The Community Engagement and Outreach Coordinator plays a crucial role in developing and implementing outreach strategies to increase awareness and engagement with our services across Texas. The Coordinator will be responsible for leading our Hope Campaigns, building relationships with community organizations, coordinating events, and effectively communicating our mission to diverse audiences.

 Duties & Responsibilities:

Hope Campaigns (Handbags for Hope, Backpacks for Hope, and Hope for the Holidays)

  • Oversee three key outreach campaigns: Handbags for Hope, Backpacks for Hope, and Hope for the Holidays.
  • Act as the project manager for these campaigns, coordinating outreach strategies, organizing meetings with Advocacy & Outreach and Development & Communications teams.
  • Develop and manage the campaign calendar. 
  • Recruit and train volunteers for these campaigns. 
  • Manage administrative tasks and tracking of volunteer time. 
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to organize press events and create marketing materials.
  • Schedule and coordinate social media campaigns with Communications team.

Community Engagement:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive outreach and engagement strategies to increase awareness of Texas Advocacy Project's services.
  • Represent the agency at local meetings, volunteer fairs, career fairs, workgroups, and training events. 
  • Update and distribute outreach materials, including brochures, flyers, and digital content.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to enhance social media presence and community engagement.
  • Track and report on outreach activities, analyzing effectiveness and making data-driven adjustments
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, schools, local businesses and other relevant groups.
  • Provide training to partner agencies about the services of Texas Advocacy Project.
  • Conduct quarterly check-ins with partner agencies to ensure seamless integration of services and gather feedback for improvement.
  • Keep the MOU partner agencies spreadsheet updated with current contact information and add agencies into the legal server.
  • Inform partners of upcoming events and initiatives.

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in communications, victim services or other related field. Experience as community organizer is a plus. Excellent organizational and event planning skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of domestic and dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking issues is preferred. Coordinator should have Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage diverse groups, time management abilities, and project planning expertise. Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office and social media platforms, database management, and record keeping. Bilingual preferred (Spanish). Ability to maintain and prepare statistical data records. Must be able to lift approx 15-20 pounds.

 Must have the ability to travel statewide and nationally. Some evenings and weekends are required.
