Job TitleStudent Program Specialist Agency Texas A&M University Department IT Academic Support Proposed Minimum SalaryCommensurate Job LocationCollege Station, Texas Job TypeStaff Job Description Glimpse of Job and Opportunity to Contribute The Program Specialist significantly contributes to the professional development and recruitment initiatives of student employees within Technology Services through the strategic planning, coordination, and evaluation of the Student Professional IT Experience (SPRITE) program and related initiatives. The SPRITE program provides student employees with self-guided and supervised experiences to build the required skills to be competitive in IT-related career fields. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Two years of experience in higher education working in a program/project related to student development Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to multi-task and work in coordination with others Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to build strong working relationships and a positive work environment Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with others Preferred Qualifications At least one year of experience in student program development Responsibilities Student Program Design and Implementation Assists in strategic planning for student program development in conjunction with the Program Coordinator or supervisor. Assists in establishing short-term and long-term goals, strategic planning, and preparation of reports. Prepares, organizes, updates, and maintains program records, files, manuals, and other documentation. Prepares and/or contributes to presentations, training, and other activities contributing to student success. Evaluates student progress and analyses student program key performance indicators. Coordination of the Student Professional IT Experience (SPRITE) Plans and coordinates assignment of student workers and internships for the SPRITE program and other assigned student engagement initiatives. Responds to inquiries from students, staff, and others, making referrals as appropriate. Collaborates and maintains successful working partnerships with students, staff, advisors, and specialty support programs. Develops training materials and program content. Develops student transition and retention initiatives. Identifies internal and external student growth opportunities to align with student success initiates in Technology Services. Collaboration Works with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the creation of student learning objectives. Works with staff and student leaders developing high impact practices to tailor opportunities and assess success. Serves as a resource for staff to facilitate, plan, and implement student initiatives. Schedules and leads meetings as necessary. Serves on student learning and development committees as assigned. Serves as a Technology Services contact for student programming and development. Communication and Customer Service Develops and maintains strong, positive working relationships with stakeholders and provides data and analysis information on student IT programs. Responsible for complex communications, both orally and written correspondence, and creating informational materials for a variety of constituent groups including staff and students. Serves as a resource to coordinate workflow of communication. Assists with newsletters, website updates, and learning management system content development. Participates in training and professional development sessions. Supports the success and objectives of Technology Services. Advances the philosophy of student engagement and development, and actively promotes student opportunities in Technology Services. Supervision Assists with recruiting, hiring, training, and supervision of student workers. Identifies mentorship opportunities for students. Delegates administrative, support, and program responsibilities for student workers. Assist with maintaining student worker schedules. Performs other duties as assigned. Why Texas A&M University?
