The Field Quality Engineering team's mission is to improvecustomer experience of Tesla products by reducing field issues, incollaboration with large cross-section of other engineering teams. This isa very hands-on individual contributor role with duties focused on failureanalysis and root causes activities.

We are seeking a multi-faceted Electrical Engineer whowill be responsible for all aspects of identifying, analyzing, root causing,implementing countermeasures, and reporting on issues affecting infotainment,low voltage, or power electronics components. To be effective, the FieldQuality Engineer will need to be intimately familiar with the detailed behaviorof these electro-mechanical assemblies and the tools and equipment used intheir design and manufacture. They will work with other Engineering teamsto quickly mitigate and implement countermeasures of field issues to improvequality, reliability, durability of the products.

• Monitor products field performance, identify trending issues, prioritize based on severity, occurrence, and/or cost of each failure modes
• Detailed failure analysis, identifying root-cause of problems - Perform board-level debugging to isolate faults for physical failure analysis
• Apply knowledge of electrical engineering and Printed Circuit Board Assembly manufacturing to drive containment and corrective action implementation into production, design, supplier, or firmware
• Communicate field performance of the engineering system, gather buy-in from engineering peers and leadership on improvement priorities and urgency
• Participate in continuous improvement activities and take preventive actions
• Share Lessons Learned from previous field issues; Provide upfront feedback by participating in design reviews to ensure product performance, reliability, and manufacturability issues are identified and risks mitigated
• Take part in ongoing optimization of the products and processes (performance, cost, technology)

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Power Electronics, Electronics, Mechatronic, or similar fields or equivalent relevant experience
• Prior applicable experience desired; preferably in a hands-on role such as failure analysis, quality, and service in consumer electronics or automotive
• For entry level candidates, Co-ops, or participation in student competitions such as Formula SAE, Baja SAE, or Solar vehicle
• The successful candidate for this position must have a broad technical background with the ability to work with engineering, manufacturing, service, and suppliers across a wide variety of issues
• Proficient in PCBA level troubleshooting and debugging
• Demonstrated success in applying statistical methods and tools
• Ability to use tools and business system applications to manage, synthesize, and interpret data
