Administrative Office Technology Instructor

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Northwest is accepting applications for the position of full-time Administrative Office Technology Instructor at the Newbern Campus.

Required Qualifications

  • An Administrative Office Technology diploma from an accredited college is required. Bachelor’s Degree in Business Education or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of successful, recent, employment experience in the area of business or related field.
  • Two years of teaching experience preferred.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, MS Windows, and QuickBooks; possess good business English and math skills.
  • Ability to teach general office procedures, business-related math, English, and computer applications; knowledge of medical terminology/transcription is helpful.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must with an ability to pay close attention to detail. Capable of meeting deadlines and adjusting to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team with strong human relations skills.

Responsibilities

  • Candidate must be ready to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Teach all phases of the Administrative Office Technology curriculum in a post-secondary setting, including Accounting Assistant, Admin/Marketing Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Legal Administrative Assistant, and Medical Coding Specialist.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, general public and good working relations with local business and industry leaders.
  • Participate in professional development activities as needed to remain current in the field.
  • Technology is a major factor in this program. Candidate must be willing to stay up to date on current and upcoming office technology.
  • Maintain appropriate records and submit timely reports.
  • Develop and maintain an advisory committee comprised of industry personnel for continued program improvement.
  • Other duties include curriculum development, student recordkeeping, student recruitment, placement, follow-up of program graduate, and budgeting.

Salary Range

Commensurate with education and experience and according to salary guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
