Teen Cancer America is Hiring a Finance Manager Near Los Angeles, CA

Teen Cancer America, a nonprofit organization devoted to increasing survival and improving the lives of adolescent and young adults with cancer by transforming hospitals to better serve their needs, is seeking a Finance Manager with a strong track record in accounting processes, budget development, compliance, and reporting.

Position Summary: Reporting to the Executive Director, and working closely with the Directors, the Finance Manager is a key contributor to Teen Cancer America’s financial operations. The Finance Manager will be responsible for financial and operational systems, processes, administration, and internal controls. The position’s primary goal is to ensure the day-to-day business and financial operations of the organization run effectively and efficiently.

Our staff is a mix of on-site in our LA office and remote as a fully collaborative and creative team in service to our mission which includes participation in fundraising activities, program outreach, and other support as necessary.

Responsibilities include:

  • Financial Management: develop and monitor the annual budget of $3M and conduct annual audit, produce monthly financial and cash flow reports, process payments, and perform banking functions.
  • Prepare fiscal year detailed budgets including forecasting, Previous year analysis, cash flow budgets, to be presented to the Board of Directors for approval.
  • Conduct analysis and generate financial reports to support Charity growth and assess opportunities and risk. Prepare quarterly Board reports.
  • Bookkeeping & Accounting; maintain and manage all accounts payable/receivable transactions, controls, and accounting procedures, electronic banking, monthly reconciliations, close month-end books
  • Contract Management: quoting and invoicing, payments, and tracking life cycle of contracts.
  • Manage payroll function and administration of all benefits
  • Manage all Charity insurance policies and event riders.
  • Active participation in Charity activities, program outreach, and other support as necessary

Requirements:

  • Degree in Business, Finance, or Economics or equivalent practical experience in finance management.
  • Minimum five years of experience in financial management, accounting, bookkeeping, or related area.
  • Knowledge of tax and other compliance implications of 501c3 nonprofit status.
  • Proficiency with Quick Books Online, Microsoft Office, Google Suites, Rippling, stripe, square and event payment platforms.
  • Relationship builder – able to connect, build trust, and partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Problem Solver – Views challenges as opportunities to improve. Adept at gathering insight and perspectives from others to inform collaborative solutions

This position is preferred onsite at our LA office, based on a 3 day -24 hour work week, with additional hours required during the annual audit. The salary range is $42-52K, based on the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience.
