Here's a summary of responsibilities:

A Data Engineer at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) plays a critical role in managing and optimizing the organization's data infrastructure, focusing on "Data At-Rest" saved in Application Databases, Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and other repositories. This role will also ensure reliable and efficient data pipelines and enable data-driven decision-making processes. In addition, the Data Engineer will need to manage time wisely, adapt to changing priorities and communicate accordingly, assist in escalations, and act as a bridge between vendors, project teams, USOPC teams, and management. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the success of a non-profit organization promoting Olympic sports and values across the United States.

Here's how you'll have an impact:

Data Modeling and Architecture

  • Design and implement data models, schemas, and architecture to support analytical needs and reporting requirements.
  • Ensure that data is prepared for analytics modeling and exploratory data analysis.
  • Collaborate with data analysts to ensure data structures align with analytical goals.

Data Pipeline Development and Management

  • Design, develop, and maintain efficient and scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and store large volumes of structured and unstructured data from various sources.
  • Implement data processing solutions, including ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, data normalization, and data enrichment.

Data Quality Assurance

  • Implement processes and frameworks for data quality assessment, validation, and cleansing to maintain high-quality data for analysis and reporting.
  • Work with stakeholders to define data quality standards and enforce best practices.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DBA, analysts, software developers, and business stakeholders, to understand data requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, presenting insights and findings from data analysis.

Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role, with a strong understanding of data architecture and database management
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end data platform architectures and best practices
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SQL and familiarity with other relevant languages
  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
  • Ability to provide input to optimize current databases and queries
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data governance, and data quality best practices
  • Strong understanding of data security and compliance requirements
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a detail-oriented mindset
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment

Here are some things that will make you super competitive for this role:

  • Certification Preferred: Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, Windows Server Administration Fundamentals Certification are a plus.
  • Experience in the sports industry or with sports-related data is a plus

Here are the tools, equipment, & conditions:

  • Standard office equipment, including telephones, personal computers, and other equipment related to database administration
  • Office equipment in a multi-level building on a multi-building site
  • Occasional domestic and international travel
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential job function

Here's where you'll work:

  • This is a hybrid role that will regularly work from both our Colorado Springs Headquarters and remotely.

Here's some more information you need to know:

  • Hiring Pay Range: $79,987 to $101,584 per year.
  • This full-time, exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
  • Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program at a 10% target. This program is subject to change or elimination by the USOPC at any time at its sole discretion.
