TDS Automation Inc is Hiring a Mechanical Designer Near Waverly, IA

Description

Design mechanical components for custom work for a wide variety of projects either independently or with group based on request by client and reviews with internal stakeholders in the project.

Essential Functions:

  1. Read proposal from application engineers and work with project manager and team of designers and engineers to decide on assigned component of the project. 
  2. Generate a drawing package of mechanical components including dimensions, raw materials, timing diagrams, 3-D Modeling designs, and related tasks. 
  3. Attend meetings on progress of project with all internal stakeholders and communicate the progress in development of the assigned piece in the project on an as needed basis. 
  4. Detail or provide a breakdown of the design in drawings for production. 
  5. Work independently on an assigned component or piece of the project while collaborating with control or mechanical personnel as needed. 
  6. Work to design with attention to estimates and verifying availability of parts or components to aid in design by contacting vendors or purchasing when needed. 
  7. Consult with engineers for calculations of engineering principles when needed. 
  8. Develop a parts list in coordination with design for purchasing and prepare a material list with type and size of raw materials. 
  9. Attention and coordination to the need for control elements where components of electrical are developed into the mechanical design. 
  10. Work with Microsoft Suites: Excel, Word, Outlook; read blueprints; Computer-Aided Design (CAD) programs; 3-D Design programs such as Solidworks.
  11. Understands and complies with requirements of the QMS, AS9100 and/or ISO 9000. 
  12. Additional work hours as required. 
  13. Travel on an as-needed basis. 
  14. Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required:

  1. Associate of Science or Technology degree in Mechanical Design or related field. 
  2. Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. 
  3. Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools including the design related to the repair, use, and maintenance. 
  4. Complex Problem Solving: Review of information to evaluate and implement a solution. 
  5. Logic-Based Thinking: Use of proven facts, knowledge, and information to come to a conclusion that will solve a problem or create a solution.
  6. Coordination: Knowledge of strengths of various positions in a production setting and aligning work to fit the strength in work staff.
  7. Oral and Written Comprehension: Communication of design concepts to the client and internal members of the project. 
  8. Active Learning: Ability to adapt the nature of diverse mechanical projects and monitor and coordinate the process with quality control in mind. 
  9. Active Learning: Learn new techniques and tasks to repair or develop materials in the experience of varying projects.
  10. Interconnectivity with Work Staff: Knowledge of the strengths of workers to connect production and development needs to the initiative. 
  11. Mathematics and Science: Knowledge of various mathematical calculations and scientific rules and methods to solve a problem. 
  12. Innovation: Requires the view of problems or opportunities with creativity and alternative thinking to develop new ideas and answers for brand new projects. 
  13. Ability to work with Microsoft Suites: Excel, Word, Outlook and ability to read blueprints.

Preferred:

  1. Working knowledge of SolidWorks, Pro-E, CadKey, and AutoCAD.
  2. Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Design or related field.
