Description

You made it here, so what is it?

Empowering our community to alleviate hunger and improve health. That’s the mission. How do you drive it? You’ll need to be an experienced leader with innovative ideas and thrive in a “Yes, and” environment. The Community Outreach Manager identifies and cultivates strong relationships within the community to increase effective program sites and better serve the TAFB service area counties and needs. You will provide leadership and management to a large bilingual Community Resource team, comprised of Specialists who connect neighbors to state benefit assistance, the Referral Partner Program, and the R.E.D. Resources Education Delivered mobile units.

Where YOU make the impact!

  • You’ll develop a comprehensive and strategy-aligned network development plan through expansion in various channels including but not limited to Case Assistance Navigator, Referral Partner Program, and R.E.D mobile programs.
  • You’ll work closely with the Chief Programs Officer to develop and manage the annual departmental budget, program and staff evaluation, and work plan.
  • You’ll lead an organizational shift to an account management approach with a neighbor-centric, community-focused mindset. Support to partners includes but is not limited to training, compliance (TAFB, HHSC, Feeding America, and Feeding Texas), grant and contract management.
  • You’ll support current partners who alleviate hunger and build new partnerships, growing their capability/capacity to help people gain access to SNAP food resources and other state benefit programs.
  • You’ll abide by the regulations of Health and Human Services, HIPPA, Feeding Texas, Feeding America, and the Unites States Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Services.
  • You’ll also oversee all reporting processes and donor/grant requirements in partnership with the Finance and External Affairs teams.
  • You’ll directly supervise a Community Resource R.E.D. Lead and a team of Community Resource Specialists.
  • You’ll ensure unserved communities are identified through data analysis and drill down to zip code level (Hunger Index) and facilitate collaboration with TAFB Agency Services and Community Health teams to develop access points for application assistance and other resources in these underserved areas.
  • You’ll manage the process for screening and contracting with selected new Partners.
  • You will spend time fostering collaboration with other TAFB functions such as Operations, Logistics, Marketing Communications, and Food Sourcing teams.
  • You’ll lead, coach, and motivate the team to consistently demonstrate TAFB Core Values of Lead, Care, Respect, and Innovate.
  • You’ll monitor the database to ensure that records and data are current.
  • You will also perform other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to be successful!

  • A bachelor’s degree and a strong leadership presence with the innate ability to take charge, leverage data, take risks, and ensure compliance.
  • You will drivea culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality. Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach. Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and conduct annual performance appraisals.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • You’ll often find yourself speaking with various leaders in the community so excellence in public speaking, writing, and presenting information is necessary.
  • You need to be a risk taker, a visionary thinker, and adept at conflict resolution and consensus building. You will motivate, initiate, and take appropriate risks.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred but not required.

A day in the Life:

  • You’ll typically split your time at our main campus and out in the community, working with hunger relief organizations in our 13-county service area.
  • You will find yourself frequently driving, standing, walking, sitting, lifting, and pulling up to 50 pounds.
  • You will travel within a 13-county service region, with occasional travel within Texas, we offer mileage reimbursement.
  • You’ll need to be okay with work schedule flexibility with occasional weekend and evening availability.
