Description

A Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a professional who studies the behavior of children and adults to help address problematic behaviors.

BCBA responsibilities include:

· Observing patients and assessing their behavior

· Meeting with families, teachers, or doctors to discuss the patient’s treatment and progress and recommend ways to address behavioral issues

· Developing individual plans to correct, maintain, or improve certain behaviors

· Create simulated conditions where you will observe the behavior of each client

· Formulate an appropriate treatment plan that is sensitive to clients’ cognitive, social, emotional, and sensory needs

· Follow the Assent methodology. 

· Administer treatment and tailor interventions as needed

· Suggest additional treatment by other professionals as required

· Operate within time, financial, and other resource constraints

· Remain abreast of changes in research on evidence-based practices

· Advocate for the inclusion of individuals with disorders and disabilities within society

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Assent-based applied behavior analysis
• Pro-active intervention strategies
• Recognizing Assent Withdrawal
• Understand the Principles of Reinforcement
• Developmental processes of children/adolescents
• Interpersonal skills needed to manager crisis situations.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Products and other technology.

Education and Experience:

·· Experience working with ages 10 through young adults with developmental disabilities and/or unique learning needs

· Board Certification

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting or working on a computer.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
• Repetitive physical activity such as data entry.
