Overview:This position will report into the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of Talcott’s US based Life and Annuity businesses in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). The ERM team is composed of Actuaries, CFA’s, and risk professionals. The group supports some of the following key priorities:Identify and assess market and liquidity risksSupporting the development and testing of Talcott’s risk appetite related to enterprise market and liquidity risksSupport the development of enterprise risk tolerances and limits for market risksOversee Talcott’s hedging program along with other risk mitigation activitiesSupport risk monitoring which includes internal and external risk reportingTalcott is pursuing an ambitious growth plan and our team will be actively involved in evaluating the opportunities by providing support with assessing optimal ALM, capital-efficient and derivative strategies.Primary Responsibilities: Assist in monitoring and managing existing hedge positions and open risk on legacy and reinsured blocks of businessAssist in creation and review of economic scenarios (deterministic and stochastic)Assist in reviewing potential blocks of business for acquisition and evaluating potential hedge strategiesAssist in reviewing liquidity risks across the enterprise and recommending stress tests for liquidity analysis at operating company and enterprise levelAssist in the assessment of risks embedded in the products that include capital markets modeling of guarantees, examination of product features and functions, and review of model implementationsCollaborate with the Hedge Trading Desk to explore risk return profiles and trading analytics Partner with the Investment Management, ALM, Treasury, Finance and Actuarial teams to assess impact of various ALM and hedge strategies Qualifications: ASA, FSA, CFA, or Masters in Financial Engineering is highly desirableMinimum of 5 years of fixed annuity, hedging and/or derivatives experienceKnowledge of Statutory and GAAP accounting principles.Strong knowledge base of variable and fixed annuity risk and profit profile as well as the modeling for these risks—fixed indexed annuity experience is strongly preferredStrong mathematical and analytical skills coupled with knowledge on fixed income asset classes, pricing models, complex derivatives, and numerical derivatives pricing techniquesProficiency with spreadsheet and database applications, including the ability to automate tasks using VBA/SQL or other macro programming languagesAbility to perform ad hoc analysis under binding time constraints, the desire to take pride in and ownership of work products and presentation, intellectual curiosity, excellent communication skills, and the willingness to “do what it takes” to meet critical objectivesAbility to multi-task and effectively balance short-term and long-term prioritiesDemonstrated capacity to form and maintain strong working relationships with individuals of all levels from other departments
