Systems Int Ltd is Hiring an Intellectual Property Legal Assistant Near Washington, DC

Job Description:

currently recruiting for a full-time IP&T Litigation Case Assistant to be based in our Washington, D.C. office. This position will support the local IP&T Litigation Practitioners and the national IP&T Litigation Practice Group. This position will report to the Practice Group Leader, with daily work performed primarily under the direction of assigned practice group lawyers and/or paraprofessionals. Expected responsibilities will include:

  • Locate pertinent court rules and comprehension of same
  • Basic proficiency in cite checking briefs and general Bluebook knowledge
  • Proficiency in electronic filing of pleadings in Federal Courts and State Courts
  • Demonstrated ability to perform searches in standard litigation related applications such as Relativity
  • Preparation of deposition summaries
  • Review, organize, and summarize documents including coding and/or Bates stamping
  • Review and summarize facts from case related documents and create chronologies of same
  • Travel to courts, libraries, offices, hospitals, and other places to obtain and review documents, records, and/or case files and travel on all case matters
  • Assist with drafting pleadings, discovery requests, responses to discovery requests, and subpoenas
  • Draft general correspondence
  • Perform factual research using LexisNexis, Westlaw, the Internet, and other available resources.
  • Assist paralegals and attorneys in deposition preparation and trial preparation

Position qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Paralegal Certificate preferred
  • Desire to work in a legal environment
  • Must have great communication and be able to work in a team environment
  • Must have the ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Must have the ability to interact and work productively with all levels of firm staff
  • Professional demeanor, attention to detail, and great organizational skills are essential
  • Ability to work independently, yet displays good judgment about when to seek guidance or request help. Keeps group well informed on status of major projects with timelines
  • Ability to maintain discretion and privacy with confidential matters and documents
  • Ability to meet minimum billable hourly requirement
  • Ability to lift boxes up to 25 lbs., and to transport files, documents and office supplies throughout the office
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite & PDF creation tool(s) is required
  • Excellent client service, ability to work overtime and travel as needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
