What do we need?

We are looking for motivated candidates with some previous law firm/ legal experience to join our firm as a Paralegal in our Trial & Appellate (Litigation) Group. We need candidates who can respond quickly to shifting demands and thrive while working under tight deadlines. Successful paralegals in our Trial & Appellate Group are able to deliver a high-quality work product and work independently with minimal supervision. Paralegals should be willing to work a hybrid schedule from the DC metro area and/or willing to relocate to the DC metro area. We expect some travel to trial locations, depending on trial schedules.

How will you make an impact?

  • Providing litigation and trial support to the practice group as necessary.
  • Organizing logistics for patent-based trials, maintaining litigation files, summarizing depositions, organizing exhibits, preparing case notebooks, simple pleadings and litigation documents as well as deposition binders and exhibits, cite checking pleadings, reviewing litigation production documents, and other litigation and trial support.
  • Maintaining and monitoring litigation docket and due dates.
  • Typing and preparing correspondence, memos, forms and other documentation as assigned; copy documents as necessary; proof all work on a routine basis.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) and Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure (FRAP).
  • Retrieving and filing information at various government agencies and courts as necessary.
  • Prioritizing workload, flexible to respond quickly to shifting demands, ability to work under time constraints, and handle multiple detailed tasks simultaneously.
  • Miscellaneous other responsibilities as assigned.

What will you bring to the role?

  • Strong academic credentials and Bachelor's degree preferred. Paralegal certificate preferred, but not required.
  • 1-2 years of law firm/legal experience required.
  • Trial experience, appellate and district-court litigation experience, and/or IP/patent litigation preferred, but not required.
  • Must possess ability to independently manage your own workload.
  • Strong desire to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
  • Successful independent proofreading abilities.
  • Propensity for highly detailed work.
  • Must be flexible to work overtime on an as-needed basis.

The good faith base salary range for this position is $55,000 to $70,000 per year.The actual salary rate offered to candidates within that range will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, years of relevant experience, education, and the candidate’s overall qualifications for the position as assessed by the Firm.
