Job Description:
Role Summary/Purpose:
This role is responsible to assist in executing an independent oversight framework for Synchrony’s Finance organization, excluding Treasury. Finance is comprised of Controllership, Tax and Financial Planning, both at the HQ and platform levels. The candidate will help to provide independent, objective and timely identification, monitoring and control of Financial risks, including operational risks as well as financial and regulatory risks. The candidate will work with Finance to monitor limits and escalation triggers. In addition, they will help facilitate the oversight of these risks via the Enterprise Risk Management framework, including monitoring and assessments, working across the Risk function.

Essential Responsibilities:
Perform oversight of Finance processes and activities via Targeted Reviews, Concurrent Reviews and Continuous Monitoring
Monitor Finance risk limits and develop additional metrics commensurate with potential new emerging risks
Enhance independent analytic dashboard to monitor finance risks
Provide effective challenge during functional risk assessments
Execute disciplined Issues Management process
Assist in identification, documentation and assessment of key Finance Risks via the Enterprise Risk Assessment and Compliance Risk Assessment
Assist in the preparation, organization and management of the materials and minutes for the Finance Risk Subcommittee
Work on due diligence efforts related to new finance products and impact on finance processes
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years of experience in consumer banking or financing businesses; or in lieu of a degree 7 years of experience in consumer banking or financing businesses
1 year of experience in a Risk/oversight or Finance function
Desired Characteristics:
Demonstrated ability to effectively challenge and influence
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Previous experience in independent oversight role
2 years of experience working in finance function
2 years of experience working with or managing analytics
Demonstrated quantitative skill set
Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to foster relationships and build informal networks without compromising independence
Grade/Level: 11
The salary range for this position is 75,000.00 - 150,000.00 USD Annual
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
