Position: Gate Attendant

Community: 88twenty

SYNC Residential is seeking four Gate Attendants to assist in the controlled access of our community, 88twenty. The ideal candidate would have prior experience in Security, Patrol, or Gate Control positions. This is a full-time position at 35 hours per week.

POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for managing the entry and exit points of the multifamily community. Ensures the security of access points by monitoring incoming and outgoing traffic. Verify identities and access authorizations of visitors to the community, and provide assistance to visitors as needed. Control flow of visitors to the community by allowing authorized individuals and denying access to unauthorized personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Essential Duties: Responsible for monitoring and restricting access to the community through multiple verification methods. Monitors community for site-specific violations such as loitering, unauthorized personnel, unauthorized gate access, transients attempting to gain access or utilize community amenities, enforce parking policies and visitor rules. This is a line position with direct impact on company funds.

  • Entry Access Control: Monitor and control access to the community by ensuring only authorized individuals and/or vehicles are allowed entry. Verify authorization through review of credentials, identification documents, access fobs, parking permits, resident roster, or other approved means before allowing access to community. Ensure only one vehicle enters gate at a time to limit access and deny vehicles from following another to gain access to community.
  • Security Monitoring: Remain vigilant of any suspicious activity, vehicles, or individuals, unauthorized vehicles of individuals, or any other non-permitted visitors. Refuse entry when possible and report security breaches or incidents to appropriate designated authorities.
  • Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service and professional assistance to residents, vendors, employees, or visitors seeking entry or community information. Respond to inquiries, provide directions, and offer appropriate guidance on community policies and procedures as needed.
  • Demeanor and Presence: Remain standing and speak confidently when interacting with residents, visitors, or other individuals to maintain authority and provide respectful service. Maintain in control of conversations when evaluating approval or denial of access to community.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records, visitor logs, and incident reports for incoming and outgoing traffic. Ensure all relevant information is documented for security and administrative purposes and communicated to all relevant parties including but not limited to Property Manager, Regional Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, and on-site patrol officers.
  • Emergency Response: Act swiftly and decisively in the event of emergencies or attempted security intrusions of unauthorized individuals or vehicles. Follow established protocols and use sound judgment to safeguard the community, control access to the community, and assist or direct first responders as necessary with community information and directions.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate gate control systems, access security cameras, communication devices, and other equipment as necessary for monitoring and maintaining control of access to the community. Promptly report any equipment malfunctions, maintenance concerns, or equipment service errors to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Controlled Access Point Monitoring: Ensure controlled access points including but not limited to parking garage vehicle gates, pedestrian gates, elevators, and entry doors throughout community are secured. Remove any items left near access points such as rocks, boxes, bricks, etc. that could be used to prop doors or gates open to assist in securing entry points. Check controlled access system (fob system) is functioning properly for resident access and report any malfunctioning equipment to Community Manager.
  • Perform additional reasonable duties as assigned by Management.

MARGINAL DUTIES:

  • Complete perimeter inspections of community access points during shift change and report findings as requested to ensure needed repairs are documented for prompt response.
  • Communicate with relevant parties including courtesy officer, on-site patrol, and other vendors to develop additional measures to ensure controlled access to community is maintained.
  • Assist residents and visitors with community and neighborhood inquiries or requests.
  • Complete audits and evaluation of controlled access system (fob system) for proper functionality.


SCHEDULE & REQUIREMENTS:

  • 35 hours per week, shifts:
    • (2 incumbents) Sunday - Tuesday 6AM - 5PM, Wed. 6AM - 11AM
    • (2 incumbents) Thursday - Saturday 6AM - 5PM, Wed. 11PM - 4PM

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Reasoning Ability:Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite and/or other systems for monitoring and reporting community activity.
