Job Purpose:Manages the Spa and Salon activities and staff Job Duties and Responsibilities:(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)Maintains efficiency of Spa and Salon operations by scheduling and assigning duties to Salon and Spa attendants, reviewing and monitoring staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage, establishing high standards of hygiene and cleanliness, communicating pertinent departmental information to staff, monitoring staff activities and providing guidance and instruction as needed, addressing and resolving non-routine guest complaints, and identifying, anticipating, and resolving guest concerns following established procedures. - 35%Enhances spa and salon and ensures competitiveness by researching current trends and analyzing customer preferences, creating and developing spa and salon activities based on findings, collaborating with marketing staff to promote events and activities, evaluating success of activities, and submitting a summary of spa and salon activity and recommendations for improvements to the Director of Recreational Services. - 25%Ensures tool, linen, and sundry shop supply costs are within established guidelines by regulating the amounts of tools, linens, and sundry supplies used, minimizing waste of product, and evaluating and recommending cost effective methods to reduce expenses. - 15%Provides guest service by acknowledging guests upon arrival, managing client appointments, providing requested services, selling and up-selling products and services, and creating a clean, safe, inviting and relaxing environment. - 10%Develops team members by meeting with staff members on a regular basis, mentoring, guiding, and coaching staff to optimal performance, monitoring results, providing direct, constructive and consistent feedback, conducting performance appraisals, providing corrective action as needed, and modeling expected collaborative and service behaviors. - 10%Hires qualified team members by communicating staffing needs and advertising requirements to Human Resources, and interviewing and selecting the best qualified candidates. - 5%Job Specifications:Education and Experience:Essential:Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience4 years of progressive Spa and Salon experience2 years of supervisory experience21 years of ageDesirable:Spa management in a resort facilityRetail business experienceSkills and Knowledge:Essential:Working knowledge of industry standards and practicesWorking knowledge of spa and salon health and safety requirementsAbility to effectively communicate with guests and team membersAbility to provide guidance and leadership to staff membersAbility to prioritize and perform multiple tasks and assignmentsAbility to perform data entry assignments Ability to communicate effectively in the English languageAbility to compose written documents in the English languageAbility to complete forms and documents and written reportsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Word and ExcelAbility to evaluate problems encountered on the job and make sound judgmentsAbility to maintain professionalism and composureAbility to sit or stand for up to eight hours at a timeAbility to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 30 lbsAbility to understand and follow verbal directives and written directionsAbility to maintain confidentialityAbility to accept constructive criticismAbility to appear for work on timeDesirable:Multi-lingualSupervisory/Managerial Accountability:Direct: Spa Lead, Spa Attendant, Nail Technician, Esthetician, Massage Therapist, Receptionist, Hair StylistIndirect: None
