Job Description

The Machine Operator level III supports the overall enterprise by operating various production machines per SOP and in compliance with the daily production schedule. They generally lead a team and are responsible for the daily performance of their assigned line. They coordinate through teamwork and collaboration with peers and both upstream and downstream teams including the Line Support, Material Handling, and QA under the general supervision of the Department Lead and Shift Supervisor.

$25.00 - 28.00 per hour

Essential Functions:

• Is present and on-time for scheduled shift to ensure adherence to production schedule
• ALWAYS work safely, follow all safety protocols to help ensure the team goes home in the same safe condition in which they arrived
• Conduct pre-run check-list/inspection, frequent systematic inspection, cleaning of all equipment during the run so risk of cross-contamination is removed and thorough end of shift cleaning and inspection is conducted in preparation for hand-off
• Read and verify daily work order(s) and communicate to team information contained within so that all team members are on the same page
• Assess and verify that product is within spec and ready to package ensuring a finished product of the highest quality.
• Verify and organize materials ensuring the correct product is packaged in the correct film per the work-order and data base so that the production schedule is met
• Operate machine(s), scales and printers per SOP, troubleshoot when indicators are out of spec and work collaboratively with Maintenance techs so that down time is kept to a minimum and up time is efficient
• Conduct QA/CCP checks per database collection and record, report findings accurately keeping all data in traceable “audit-ready” state
• Perform change overs as per work-order/SOP specifications so that quality and scrap are within specifications
• Move materials as needed throughout the department and facility in a safe manner utilizing required PIVs (powered pallet jacks, fork lift truck, etc.)
• Effectively and thoroughly train new team members so that each individual knows what is expected, contributes positively to daily goals and can achieve desired and communicated results
• Work collaboratively/effectively communicate with all departments and respond quickly to requests so that all stakeholders have what they need to be efficient and effective as it pertains to the work you are doing
• Collect all necessary data as required on time and in a thorough, traceable and audit-ready manner
• Lead the culture of quality by always working in compliance with all GMPs, Food Safety and Safety standards and demonstrate to others their importance
• Lead/attend required huddles, attend company meetings and complete all required trainings
• Conduct yourself in a professional manner, treating all with respect resulting in an environment conducive to high morale and productivity
• Maintain work area in neat, clean and organized fashion ensuring safety and availability of needed items and a smooth transition between shifts
• Meet all of the physical demands of the position which include, but are not limited to, lifting up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis, bending, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, walking, sitting, utilizing various powered industrial trucks (using foot and dual hand controls) see section 5

Requirements

• 1 year(s) of food manufacturing experience is preferred; or any combination of education, experience and training which provides the following knowledge, skills and abilities;
• Must exhibit a knowledge of Safety standards and practices, ensuring that each shift ends with no preventable workplace accidents
• Must possess and demonstrate knowledge of Food Safety, Quality and GMPs as it pertains to personal and manufacturing practices ensuring minimum risk of contamination
• Possess and demonstrate knowledge of internal systems and processes
• Ability to follow direction and use critical thinking to achieve goals
• Must work well in a collaborative and multi-cultural, team-oriented environment
• Adaptability/flexibility to changing priorities is imperative as well as the ability to act/react in real time
• PIV certified on all position required vehicles and maintain certification
• Results driven and proactive with ability to own and execute area of responsibility with excellence
• Must possess basic English to receive direction, read & comprehend instructions, SOPs, safety requirements and policies/procedures
• Basic English proficiency required to comprehend, read and follow instructions and work orders, maintain records and logs as assigned so that thorough and accurate documentation exist for inquires, audits and reports
