Position Title: Pantry 1

Location: Hawaii Convention Center, Honolulu, Hawaii

Position Type: Part-time/On-Call

Overview:

The Hawaii Convention Center, a premier venue for international and local events in the heart of Honolulu, is seeking a skilled and experienced Pantry 1 to join our culinary team. This role is essential in supporting the creation of high-quality dishes, focusing on cold food preparation, including salads, sandwiches, appetizers, and desserts. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for culinary excellence, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Cold Food Preparation: Execute the preparation of cold dishes according to recipe and presentation standards set by the executive chef.
  • Ingredient Prep: Wash, peel, cut, and portion fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients with precision and care.
  • Presentation: Assemble and garnish dishes in an attractive manner to enhance the dining experience.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all dishes meet the high standards of quality, freshness, and presentation expected at the convention center.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in managing pantry inventory, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste.
  • Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pantry area, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean and maintain pantry equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working order.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff, including sous chefs and line cooks, to ensure efficient operation of the kitchen and timely service to events.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a pantry or cold kitchen station, preferably in a high-volume kitchen or convention center.
  • Strong knowledge of cold food preparation techniques and culinary fundamentals.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to maintaining high cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
