About the Role

The Materials Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of materials management within our manufacturing facilities. This includes procurement, inventory control, production planning, and distribution of materials to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The Materials Manager will collaborate with various departments to optimize material flow, minimize costs, and meet production targets while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

• Develop and implement strategies to support production schedules and meet customer demand.
• Secure material requirements and ensure timely availability of materials.
• Manage the procurement process, including supplier selection, negotiation of contracts, and monitoring supplier performance to ensure on-time delivery, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Maintain just in time inventory levels by implementing inventory control systems, conducting regular audits, and analyzing demand patterns.
• Directs production planning and coordinates with the supporting departments to schedule material releases, allocate resources, and minimize production downtime.
• Coordinate material movements and logistics, including receiving, inspection, storage.
• Monitor and analyze material usage, scrap rates, and other key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction.
• Develop, implement, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for materials management, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Lead and develop a team of staff, providing training, performance feedback, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements, and best practices in materials management and recommend innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Directs production planning and scheduling based on bookings.
  • Coordinating and securing outbound customer freight.
  • Align production schedule with factory capacity.
• Materials
  • Maintains and ensures inventory accuracy.
  • Oversees receiving related to purchased parts.
  • Manages and monitors storage of purchased parts.
  • Oversees and performs inventory transactions to reflect the accurate value of inventory.
• Purchasing
  • Ensures purchasing schedules, and delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Orders inventory to ensure deliveries within customer order schedule.
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce costs and charges.
• Technology
  • High-level comprehension of ERP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to oversee and maintain inventory item master data integrity.
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Excel, such as lookup formulas, pivot tables, embedded formulas, charts, and graphs, and the ability to develop in-depth data analysis models.
