Compensation Range:

Salary: $96,800-$121,000 Annual Short Term Incentive Program Bonus eligibility

Overview

The legal operations manager will work closely with the chief legal officer, legal team and business stakeholders at all levels of the company. As our legal operations manager, you will be key in creating processes and practices to improve the day-to-day efficiency and effectiveness of the legal team, facilitate change, and control costs.

This is a generalist role that involves managing and supporting projects across the full range of subject matter supported by the legal team. You must be able to adapt to changing priorities and business needs, and must be proactive in identifying areas of need and generating action plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Planning:
  • Collaborate with legal leadership to develop and implement strategic plans for the legal department.
  • Align legal operations with the overall business objectives of the international construction materials company.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and implement efficient workflows within the legal department.
  • Streamline legal operations to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Technology Management:
  • Oversee the selection, implementation and management of legal technology tools to improve workflow automation, document management, and collaboration.
  • Stay informed about legal tech trends and assess their relevance to the company's legal operations.
  • Vendor Management:
  • Manage relationships and spend with external legal service providers (including invoice intake, processing through Legal Tracker and payment coordination), including law firms and consultants.
  • Negotiate and review contracts with vendors to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality of services.
  • Budgeting and Financial Management:
  • Develop and manage the legal department's budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and resource allocation in line with company goals.
  • Monitor and report on legal expenses to ensure financial compliance.
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Ensure legal compliance in all operations, staying abreast of changes in relevant laws and regulations.
  • Implement risk management strategies and processes to mitigate legal risks associated with construction material operations.
  • Data and Analytics:
  • Utilize data and analytics to assess the performance of legal operations, prepare appropriate reporting, and make informed decisions.
  • Develop and maintain metrics to measure the efficiency and effectiveness of legal processes.
  • Training and Development:
  • Coordinate training programs for legal staff on new processes, technologies, and compliance requirements.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning within the legal department.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between legal and other departments within the international company.
  • Act as a liaison between legal and business teams to address cross-functional needs.

Education & Experience:

  • BA or BS
  • Proven 5-7 years of experience with legal project operations and management in-house or at a law firm (both preferred)

Other:

  • Proven track record of collaborating with groups (e.g., finance, operations, sales, IT) to set objectives and produce meaningful results
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and successfully manage multiple deadlines
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in legal technology tools and project management.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
