JOB SUMMARY: TheTeam Lead is responsible for assisting the Patient Access Supervisor with the day to day operations of the Patient Access department/area. The Team Lead is responsible to ensure that department functions are carried out according to policies, procedures and expectations while on shift. Although they do not have staff that report directly to them they are required to manage department work which requires them to engaging in staffing actions from time to time. They will be required to help find coverage, direct the work of others and monitor key metrics while on shift. Will be responsible for assisting with the QA process, reporting of statistics and insures compliance of all work related activities. Work requires familiarity with the department and/or hospital policies, services, layout and organization. This position also assists Patient Access Registrars through on the job training, education and registration support, when represented staff are not available. The Team Lead provides feedback to the supervisor regarding performance issues of the department staff and overall effectiveness of department policies, procedures and practices. They participate in performance improvement activities, as requested. The Team Lead will transport patients, assisting patients and visitors as needed. Accepts and resolves customer concerns while in the registration department. May be requested to collect and receipt cash and answer basic customer service questions. The team lead performs routine registration tasks in addition to ordering and stocking of department supplies, and other duties as assigned by the Patient Access Supervisor, Manager and or Director.
SUPERVISION: Reports Directly to Patient Access Supervisor/Manager
SCOPE: Responsible to manage the department operations during assigned shift including workflow, staffing and procedures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Minimal five (5) years experience in a registration area or outpatient center with an emphasis on progressive responsibilities in job duties. College level Associates or BS/BA degree may be substituted for three (3) years experience.
Skills: Must have strong computer skills and be able to communicate well both verbally and in written form. Candidate must be fluent in English as either a primary or secondary language. Must be able to multi-task and be able to work well under pressure.
