Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Pay Rate: $20 - $23/hr
Duration: Contract role
Location: Laguna Hills, CA 92651

Maintenance

• Performs rough carpentry and wall repair including drywall installation, sanding, texturing & painting.
• Performs plumbing, electrical, and basic HVAC repair/diagnostics for campus facilities and equipment.
• Provides general maintenance including fixing doors and windows, setting and maintaining controllers for irrigation, lighting and HVAC.
• Provides occasional grounds upkeep: waters plants, leaf blowing, sweeps and rakes campus grounds.

Studio Preparation

• Assists in preparation of each studio before classes begin and throughout the day as needed.
• Ensures all chairs, easels, taborets, tables, equipment and horses are in order as needed
• Ensures proper supplies are available in each studio (i.e., extension cords, heaters, fans, chalk, markers, paper rolls, etc.). as needed
• At the beginning of each semester, assists in preparing classrooms and coordinating equipment that is needed for each Fine Art and Liberal Arts studio
• Sweep and mop prop rooms, clean sinks in studios, wipe down easels, and vacuum studio furniture
• Before each semester, paint studios, sweep and mop studios, vacuum and shampoo model stands and model furniture
• Each summer: paint still life carts and taborets, paint senior studios, shampoo model stands
• Touch up studios, repaint props and replace burned out light bulbs as needed/requested.

Props

• Clean prop closets
• Repaint dull props white or gray as needed
• Throw away broken props as directed
• Place props in their correct closet and keep them organized
• Pick up props from studios that have been left out
• Fix broken props if repairable
• Maintain prop inventory

Miscellaneous Duties as Needed

• Performs general cleaning of lunch tables, glass doors, windows, etc.
• Monitors and empties trash and recycling bin containers
• Monitors and restocks paper products in the bathrooms
• Performs set up and breakdown of classrooms for guest lectures and special events
• Assists with hanging artwork for special events
• Assists various departments with special requests (moving boxes and furniture, etc.).
• Assists the Gallery Manager with exhibition installations and delivery of artwork
• Observes all safety regulations; updates and maintains SDS forms and overall compliance with safety regulations from EPA and OSHA; presents and maintains safe studio procedures for the departments, including execution of proper cleaning procedures, and the storage of hazardous materials and artwork
• Purchases, procures and maintains inventory of maintenance supplies
• Manages all building keys (making copies, giving new sets, etc.)
• Assists Maintenance Manager with administrative duties such as utilizing the work ticket system, coding bills, and communicating with vendors.
• Assists Maintenance Manager with other tasks as assigned

Woodshop

• Receives initial and annual training for wood shop equipment and tools by certified trainer. Tools and equipment include but are not limited to: table saw, band saw, sander, drill press, panel saw and miter saw.
• Uses woodshop facilities to support maintenance needs.
• Cuts wood for students as needed.

Position Requirements, Experience and Education

• High school diploma or GED required. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 3 years of experience in facilities maintenance with varied trade skills required.
• 3 years of experience and knowledge of machines, hand tools and power tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance required.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in repair of buildings required.
• Strong organization skills required.
• 3 years of basic painting and drywall repair required
• Must be self-motivated, focused, and proactive.
• Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced, demanding environment required.
• Must possess a commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive work environment
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to develop strong relationships with all campus constituents required.
• Must possess the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable form of transportation required.
• Must maintain an excellent driving record and ability to participate in ongoing DMV driving record background check.
• Must pass a pre-employment medical examination.
• Experience in the Education industry preferred

PAY TRANSPARENCY POLICY STATEMENT

Compensation for roles at Suna Solutions varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific client, office or remote location, role, skill set and level of experience. As required by local law, Suna Solutions provides a reasonable pay scale to include the hourly or salary range that Suna Solutions reasonably expects to pay for roles that may be hired in California, Colorado, New York City or Washington.
