Part-Time Librarian – Summit Academy Draper Campus

Summit Academy Draper is seeking applications for a part-time Librarian with experience working with K-6th graders and is familiar with literature popular with them.

Hours are Part-Time Monday through Thursday; (16-20 hours/week) . Salary: $15.00 per hour.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting students and teachers with locating resources.
• Performing circulation and reader's advisory activities using a check-in/check-out and catalog system.
• Knowledge and use of laminating machine.
• Supervising students and volunteers during specials time.
• Creating visually appealing book displays and bulletin boards.
• Manage the acquisition, processing, organization, distribution, maintenance, and inventory of campus library resources.
• Create a library environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Shelves materials and straightens collection daily.
• Prepares and processes new materials for shelving and circulation
• Repairs worn or damaged items (includes creating and applying spine labels, covering paperback and hardback books, fixing spines, covers, loose pages, etc.)
• Conduct annual library inventory.
• Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance to ensure a consistent focus on student learning.
• Perform other duties as assigned when needed.
• May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions during portions of workday.

Job Description Minimum qualifications:

• Candidate must have minimal of 1 year of library experience.
• Excellent reading, speaking and written skills.
• Knowledge of children's and young adult literature.
• Ability to work closely with children.
• Ability to remain calm and patient at all times.
• Knowledge of library and classroom subjects.
• A working knowledge of Google (preferred) or Microsoft products and office equipment
• The ability to communicate effectively and work independently.
• Needs to move about inside the classroom or campus to monitor students as necessary.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work schedules of others on short-term basis.
