STV is currently searching for aSenior Mechanical Engineerto join ourBuildings Divisionout of ourNYC Office. This individual will be responsible for the Energy modeling and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) of facilities related to mechanical systems across a variety of markets including Healthcare, Education, Municipal, Industrial, Federal and Science and Technology industries. They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages through construction documents. The primary duties include the energy modeling of the facilities from Schematic Design to Construction Documents phases and checking the actual data to modeled data during operation. They will also perform CFD modeling for a wide verity of projects including smoke, thermal, air flow studies. They will prepare reports to communicate the results with the design team and client. They should be self-motivated with an initiative to deliver high-quality, technically excellent models, and reports. Additionally, the Senior Mechanical Engineer needs to be a conceptual thinker who can engage our architectural designers at the early stages of projects to influence the conceptual design.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Extensive knowledge in Mechanical system design. Should be aware of energy-efficient system design.
• Experience in smoke modeling for buildings, tunnels is a plus. Knowledge of relevant NFPA standards is desired.
• Prepare reports and documentation in compliance with best practices, project design goals, and STV's quality standards.
• Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and plumbing engineers on requirements of the HVAC equipment and systems.
• Support the LEED team in preparing documentation for submittals.
• Conduct and attend meetings with owners, contractors, external and internal design team members.
• Select mechanical HVAC equipment and systems, make recommendations to the design team.
• Perform heating, cooling and ventilation load analysis.
• Familiarity with annual energy use projections and analysis produced by energy analysis programs.
• Knowledgeable using one or more energy modeling software such as Trane Trace 3D, eQuest, EnergyPlus, IES-VE.
• Knowledgeable using one or more CFD modeling software such as Autodesk CFD, Fluent or any other commercially available programs.
• Conduct surveys, studies, and site investigations.
• Prepare engineering reports.
• Prepare calculations for LEED submission for projects.
• Participate in reviews with various governing agencies.
• Attend project interviews, contribute to proposal language, and assemble fees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited University.
• NY Professional Engineering license is preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of energy efficient building system design
• A minimum of 11 years of experience in the design of engineering systems/computational fluid dynamics for large complex buildings.
• Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Proficient with MS Office suite (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
• Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD is preferred.
• Accreditation in LEED, Green Globe, or ASHRAE High Performance Buildings is preferred.
