Strategic Technology Institute, Inc. (STi) is Hiring an Engineering Technician V Near Patuxent River, MD

SCOPE:
Strategic Technology Institute, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Technician V to offer engineering, logistics, and technical expertise to the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD)’s Integrated Battlespace Simulation and Test (IBST) Department in support of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) and acquisition program requirements. This individual will be providing technical support services to aid in assessment, troubleshooting, repair, testing, training and logistics support related to the specific system or equipment type.

BACKGROUND:
The IBST is a part of the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Digital Analytics Infrastructure and Technology Advancement (DAiTA) Group. The IBST Department, Integrated Combat Environments (ICE) Division, has been established to provide the expertise and simulation equipment necessary to conduct research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) and E3 design support, and design support for the assessment of both tactical and strategic weapon systems and their associated support systems. This currently includes, but is not limited to, the E3 of Nuclear Electromagnetic Pulse (NEMP), Lightning EMP (LEMP), Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), Precipitation Static (P-Static), Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), TEMPEST, the Naval Electromagnetic Radiation Facility (NERF) and its testing of High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), Hazardous Electromagnetic Radiation (HERO/F/P), and other electromagnetic transients (EMT). IBST provides these services to Navy, Marine Corp, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, Other Government Agencies, and in support of foreign military partners across all type, models, and series (T/M/S).

DUTIES:
- Performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others.
- May train and be assisted by lower level technicians, and performs one or a combination of the following:

  • Designs, develops, and constructs major units, devices, or equipment; conducts tests or experiments; analyzes results and redesigns or modifies equipment to improve performance; and reports results.
  • From general guidelines and specifications (e.g., size or weight requirements), develops designs for equipment without critical performance requirements that are difficult to satisfy such as engine parts, research instruments, or special purpose circuitry. Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems; selects from several possible design layouts; calculates design data; and prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc. May check and analyze drawings or equipment to determine adequacy of drawings and design.
  • Plans or assists in planning tests to evaluate equipment performance. Determines test requirements, equipment modification, and test procedures; conducts tests using all types of instruments; analyzes and evaluates test results, and prepares reports on findings and recommendations.

OTHER RESPONSABILITIES:
- Conduct root cause analysis on electrical systems and equipment to identify and resolve issues
- Assemble and test electrical components, ensuring they meet quality standards
- Collaborate with engineers to develop and modify schematics, PCB layouts, and other technical documentation
- Perform equipment repair and maintenance as needed
- Assist in the installation and setup of electrical systems
- Conduct tests and experiments to evaluate the performance of electrical systems
- Troubleshoot and debug electrical circuits using tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
- Keep accurate records of test results, procedures, and equipment maintenance

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- At least four (4) years of experience performing the engineering functions (detailed above), including at least three (3) years of experience as a team lead or supervisor
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including circuit design and analysis
- Proficiency in CAD software for creating schematics and PCB layouts
- Familiarity with assembly techniques for electrical components
- Experience with equipment repair and maintenance
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, such as NEC (National Electrical Code)
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems using tools like multimeters and oscilloscopes
- U.S. Citizen with an active SECRET/TOP SECRET security clearance
- Experience working with the Navy/DoD is preferred
