Our client is an independent, national nonprofit dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families struggling with mental health and learning disorders. Their teams work every day to deliver the highest standards of care, advance the science of the developing brain and empower parents, professionals, and policymakers to support children when and where they need it most. Together with their supporters, they're helping children reach their full potential in school and in life.

Our client is seeking a Program Director for the “Global Fellowships” Initiative. The Program Director of Global Fellowships will be responsible for creating innovative leadership programs for delivering solutions at scale and increasing capacity to treat and study child and adolescent mental disorders. The Global Fellowships Initiative will award fellowships in three distinct categories:

  • Research Fellows: An elite, multinational cohort of early career scientists from low- and middle- income countries that will represent the global leaders of tomorrow.
  • Child and Adolescent Mental Health Clinical Fellows: A core group of interdisciplinary clinicians seeking specialty training in child and adolescent mental health from low- and middle- income countries who will commit to infrastructure building and service in their local communities.
  • Global Communicators: A broad, multi-disciplinary group of communicators (spanning advocacy, education, journalism, policy, and lived experiences), who will use their respective mediums to creatively collect and deliver information about the state and future of mental health in low- and middle- income countries.

The Program Director will have overall responsibility for developing operational strategies and administrative systems required to ensure the short and long-term success of the Initiative. This includes oversight of strategic planning, operations, compliance and processes, employee engagement, finances, and outcome quality.

The Program Director must have program (preferably fellowship) management and leadership experience along with the ability to multitask in a high-energy environment. This position provides the opportunity to engage with a broad range of clinicians, policy-makers, researchers, and community leaders and will involve periodic international travel.

Reporting to the Managing Director, this is an exempt, full-time position located in their NYC headquarters office. Hybrid work-schedule (3-days in-office) possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with leadership to finalize the design of the Global Center Global Fellowships Initiative, including the implementation and evaluation plans.
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the Global Fellowships Initiative, from conception through the application process and active support of the Fellows and developing and maintaining a robust network of international training sites and fellowship cohorts.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day work of the Global Fellowships Initiative team members and facilitate sub-project operations by creating and managing project timelines and plans, preparing internal team documents as required, and authoring reports and dashboards for Executives that provide updates on the Initiative’s progress.
  • In collaboration with the Contracts Office and the Managing Director, create and complete contracts and other legal agreements with relevant parties engaged with the Initiative.
  • Actively manage and escalate issues related to meeting project milestones to the Managing Director, and proactively identify alternative ways to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Forecast and develop project budgets, and identify resource needs across all sites, in consultation with the Managing Director and co-Program Directors.
  • Facilitate communication and information sharing across the Initiative’s team. Develop, prepare, and distribute communications, meeting minutes, presentations, and other materials as needed to ensure communication objectives are met.
  • Create procedures to ensure ongoing quality improvement and evaluation and facilitate communication within the Initiative and to other Initiatives.
  • Collaborate with leadership, particularly the Program Director of Public Awareness and Engagement, for outreach needs and opportunities and, in the planning, and management of the Communicator Fellowship program.
  • Periodic travel will be required to develop and support partnerships.
  • Other duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (psychology, neuroscience, psychiatry, clinical, public health, etc.) required; doctoral degree in a relevant discipline preferred’ Bachelor’s degrees with equivalent professional experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5-years post-graduate professional experience required; minimum 8-years post-graduate professional experience required without master’s degree.
  • Prior experience with community-focused and/or educational initiatives preferred.
  • Spanish and Portuguese fluency strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication (written, verbal), and collaboration skills with the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with a wide range of individuals/groups.
  • Excellent management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated strategic, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities.
  • Able to share in morale building and group support to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) some understanding of financial and organizational management.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $155,250-$180,000.

The salary range for the position is posted. Factors such as candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations affect the salary offered within this range. In addition, this salary may be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state and depending on the role), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
