You will be tasked with implementing and scaling accounting solutions, establishing and upholding financial controls, and researching and integrating evolving reporting standards. Your responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum, including financial reporting, controls implementation, payroll management, tax, audit facilitation, and treasury operations.As a leader within our small but ambitious finance team, you'll find ample room for personal and professional growth. Your contributions will be highly visible to leadership, and you'll play an integral role in shaping the trajectory of both the department and the company as a whole. You'll have the opportunity to optimize and streamline existing processes while spearheading the development of new ones as Stellar grows and the landscape we operate in further develops.In this role, you will:Manage the monthly financial close process, procuring accurate, relevant, reliable financial reports in a timely mannerParticipate in the ongoing development, establishment, and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and operational strategies including the review and implementation of process and system changesOwn hierarchy and scalability in the chart of accounts and accuracy in the general ledger ensuring efficient reporting for various legal entities and business unitsBe a strategic partner in developing and implementing cost allocations across project and mandate-related effortsLeverage past experience with technical accounting to analyze more complex areas (compensation, options, tax, investments) and document appropriate treatment in memo formatLead tax compliance, Collaborating with external advisors to ensure successful R&D credit analysis and IRS sec 174 complianceManage tax jurisdictions, including user system access, jurisdictional rate changes, notices, liabilities, and overpayments. Manage the relationship between the payroll provider and the regulatory agencyPartner with internal teams and outside advisors to structure investments, considering international tax considerations as neededDesign, implement, maintain, and enforce company policies, processes, and internal controls including controls around cash and crypto movementsContinued focus on improving system efficiencies and business practicesLead Stellar's annual insurance renewal, benchmarking for appropriate coverageAdminister 2023 and future 401k audits by interfacing with external auditors, payroll support, and the 401k providerQualifications:10 years of progressive experience in Finance and Accounting, with a strong bias for accuracy and driving the businessMinimum Bachelor's Degree in finance, or accountingActive CPA, with a strong understanding of GAAP / FASB standardsAudit ExperienceTax ExperienceExperience with Quickbooks, Insurance, and PayrollDemonstrated ability to work independently across multiple projects and systems against deadlinesHighly analytical, data-driven, and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and project management skillsExcellent communication skills (written and verbal) and comfortable interacting with leaders at all levelsCurious, motivated, collaborative, flexible, and responsive team player with a strong customer focusWe offer competitive pay with a base salary range for this position of $140,000 - $190,000 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
