Steelite International is seeking an Application Support Specialist to join our IT team at Steelite International in Youngstown, Ohio. The Application Support Specialist will be responsible for providing first-level technical support and assistance to end-users within the organization for all software and application related issues. The ideal candidate should have experience with IT frameworks, good problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn and grow within the role. This is an entry-level position with opportunities for growth and career development within the IT department. After-hours or weekend work may be required for special projects, system maintenance, or issues impacting business operations.

What will I do as an Application Support Specialist

Essential Job Functions

• Provide prompt and courteous technical support to end-users via phone, email, or in-person.
• Assist users with software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Diagnose and resolve software and application issues on desktops, laptops, and servers
• Log, track, and prioritize support requests using a ticketing system.
• Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff, appropriate teams, or vendors as needed.
• Ensure timely resolution of open tickets and provide regular updates to end-users.
• Install, upgrade, and configure software applications and operating systems.
• Collaborate with 3rd part vendors.
• Monitor and maintain the performance of critical applications and systems, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues to minimize downtime and ensure optimal functionality.
• Provide training and guidance to users on software functionality and usage.
• Participate in the testing and validation of new software releases, patches, or updates to ensure compatibility, stability, and reliability.
• Create and update knowledge base articles, FAQs, the Service Desk system, and user guides.
• Assist with/and maintain accurate records of hardware and software inventory.
• Assist in enforcing IT security policies and protocols.
• Ensure software and applications are in compliance with industry standards.

What are the qualifications and skills?

The ideal candidate must have:

· Strong familiarity with Windows environments (10/11, Server, etc).

o Basic knowledge of iOS and MacOS operating systems is preferred but not required.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other common business applications.

· Experience writing SQL queries.

· General understanding of relational databases, application and system architecture, and how those components integrate with each other.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.

· Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.

· Willingness to work collaboratively within a team and learn from experienced IT professionals.

· 2 – 3 years of application support experience

· Strong understanding of software and application fundamentals.

· Proven experience in providing technical support for software applications and systems in a corporate environment.

· Strong self-management and motivation with the ability to work effectively with high-level direction.

· Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.

Education Requirement:

• Certification or degree in Computer Science
