JOB SUMMARY
The Alta Care Group, Inc. Head Start Program is seeking a Pregnancy Support Specialist to assist and support pregnant mothers and expectant families to obtain comprehensive prenatal care. This care includes appropriate nutrition, oral health care, mental health supports, and prenatal education, as well as, access to postpartum health care.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Recruit and manage a caseload of 8 pregnant women.
Assist expectant mothers in attaining ongoing and comprehensive health care.
Provide referrals to appropriate resources and services such as mental health, food assistance, etc.
Complete newborn baby visits in accordance with program requirements.
Assist in the transition process to Early Head Start services.
Provide prenatal and postpartum information, education, and resources.
Engage pregnant mothers in the Head Start Family Partnership Process.
Coordinate, plan, and carry out group socialization events.
Utilize the Partners for a Health Baby curriculum.
Carry out all job functions in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be able to pass BCI/FBI background check in accordance with ODJFS Licensing regulations.
Must be able to pass a medical exam in accordance with ODJFS licensing Regulations.
Must be able to provide documentation of being free from communicable tuberculosis in accordance with Head Start Standards.
Must be able to meet qualifications as required for Step Up to Quality (SUTQ).
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field required. Experience working with pregnant women preferred.
