KEY RESPONSBILITIES
Reporting to the Dean of the School of Music, the successful candidate will:
Teach composition-related courses including private instruction, instrumentation, orchestration, choral scoring, notation, styles & genres, repertoire and analysis, arts leadership and music entrepreneurship;
Contribute to the development and instruction of composition-related courses as well as music entrepreneurship-related courses;
Be active as a recruiter for the School of Music;
Participate in committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession;
Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
Additional areas of teaching and service may be determined depending on school needs and the candidates' individual interests, qualifications and expertise.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
DMA or PhD in Music Composition;
Collegiate teaching experience; and
Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission;
Experience with instructional technology;
Demonstrated commitment to the university, division, and profession.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated success at teaching undergraduate and graduate composition;
Strong organizational and collaborative skills;
Demonstrated commitment to community engagement;
Demonstrated vision of the role and potential of composition pedagogy at the collegiate level, including experience teaching in a broad range of diverse styles; and
Demonstrated commitment to the university, division and profession.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, non-tenure track appointed position beginning 9/01/2023 .
