Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in geology, geophysics, geological sciences, engineering geology, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or closely related degree;
  OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• At least 1 year of combined geologic and/or geophysical experience with an emphasis on geophysical data collection and processing. Geophysical experience includes working knowledge of geophysical field instruments such as seismic monitoring equipment, gravity, magnetics, HVSR, and GPR, as well as working knowledge of geophysical data processing software. Graduate experience may be considered instead of work experience.
• Documented knowledge in GIS, geophysical processing software, and data management.

• Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and public records retention and requests are followed.
• Ability to work outdoors sometimes on uneven terrain in all weather conditions.

• Field (outdoor – usually >85%) and office (indoor – usually <15%). This position requires repeated swinging of a 16 lb. sledgehammer onto a metal plate resting on the ground daily and requires the ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs.). Field terrain is usually flat grassy ball fields but occasionally could include undulatory and uneven ground requiring moderate hiking carrying or moving equipment. This position is usually as part of a team with an assistant team member.
• Extensive in-state, with occasional out-of-state
• A valid unrestricted driver’s license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function. Finalists and/or interview candidates will be asked to provide a driving record from all states in which they have held a license during the past three years.

• Graduate degree in geology, geophysics, geological sciences, engineering geology, civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, or a closely related degree.
• Experience using a magnetometer, gravimeter, seismic monitoring equipment, GPR, GPS, and GIS, and familiarity with standard lab equipment is required.
• Washington State Professional Geologist License.
