This position will offer great benefits with the state, including 15 days of annual and sick leave per year or more depending on applicable state service.The South Carolina Office of Resilience (SCOR), in partnership with the South Carolina Department Health and Environmental Control (DHEC}, is receiving funding from the Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Pollution Reduction Grant (CPRG) program. The Environmental Health Manager Ill - Greenhouse Gas Analyst is responsible for conducting analyses to support South Carolina's CPRG program, to include GHG inventories, GHG projections, (co)benefits analyses, assessments to develop reduction strategies, and development of metrics to track GHG reduction measures. The Environmental Health Manager Ill - Greenhouse Gas Analyst will participate in relevant working groups and committees; collaborate with CPRG partners and stakeholders to identify and fill data gaps; contribute to analyses or assessments conducted by CPRG partners; and produce summary visualizations and written content for incorporation into the CPRG decision making process and any required reports. The job duties of this position include but are not limited to the following: Conducting analyses required for the CPRG program, to include greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and projections for South Carolina, assessments of measures intended to reduce climate pollution and benefit affected communities, and development of metrics to track progress of any measures implemented through the CPRG program.Creating data visualizations, written summaries, and maps to communicate findings and technical information to diverse audiences.Managing and integrating environmental, economic, demographic, and other relevant data from various sources, to develop a comprehensive understanding of South Carolina's GHG emissions and inform the development of policy and management recommendations for South Carolina's CPRG program.Collaborating with CPRG team members and partners to identify and fill any data gaps and to understand needs for and uses of climate and other relevant information.Monitoring research and technological advances to assess and monitor greenhouse emissions and reduction measures; applying new information and innovations to enhance analyses and products developed through the CPRG program.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Bachelor's degree in natural or physical science, engineering, environmental science, environmental studies, sustainability, geography, economics, business, data analytics, or a related field and two years of relevant experience.Experience analyzing and reporting on greenhouse gas emissions.Fluency in computer and communications technologies, including Microsoft Office programs.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Experience managing and analyzing environmental, economic, demographic, and other datasets relevant to the CPRG program.Understanding of data management, data integrity, and environmental reportingExcellent analytical, problem solving, organizational, listening, and written and verbal communications skills.Ability to collaborate and communicate with diverse agencies, organizations, communities, and other stakeholder groups.Ability to conduct business in a manner consistent with SCOR's mission, policies, and core values.Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview.
