Job Duties

What You'll Do:

Responsibilities of the Financial Analyst include but are not limited to:

  • Examines, analyzes, and conducts complex reconciliation of accounts payable records to assess accuracy, completeness and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
    • Reviews and reconciles agency expenditure transactions.
    • Analyzes invoices, approvals, and purchase orders to ensure a complete reconciliation.
    • Enters accounts payable data into system. Monitors accounts payable data entered into system.
    • Processes payment of accounts payable and monitors payment status.
    • Ensures timely vendor payments to minimize interest penalty assessments, vendor inquiries, and complaints.
    • Receives invoices and assesses accuracy.
    • Emails invoices and/or reports to appropriate employees for authorization for approval of payment.
    • Denies incorrect vouchers and researches and analyzes and resolves errors.
  • Conducts complex reconciliation of payment cards.
    • Processes OLC payment card payments within allotted time.
    • Assesses accuracy of card purchases and ensures appropriate funds are used.
    • Researches questionable and/or unauthorized transactions.
    • Attaches back-up documentation to vouchers.
  • Conducts complex reconciliation of claims records.
    • Examines and analyzes gross deferred prize claim statements of previous year and deferred monthly reconciliation.
    • Examines and analyzes projected pay lists and creates related reports and statements detailing all monthly prize assignment payments.
    • Receives requests for duplicate W2G and processes accordingly. Maintains records of W2G requests and changes and requests duplicates.
  • Prepares and analyzes various required financial reports.
  • Travels throughout State to assist supervisor with training Super Retailers on prize claim processing.
  • Complies with directives and laws for accounts payable and claims records retention. Places related documents in boxes and determines which documents are to be sent to imaging and records retention. Ensures physical safekeeping of related documents.
  • Answers departmental telephones.
  • Uses various software programs to complete daily job responsibilities.
  • Performs other duties and works on special projects.

Qualifications
30 months experience or 30 months training in accounting &/or finance to include an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 6 months experience or 6 months training in accounting &/or finance to include an intermediate level of experience in spreadsheet software.
  • Or 12 months experience as Financial Associate, 66561.
  • Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

NOTE: Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 months of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.
