Staff Development Specialist I 

Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Staff Development Specialist l. The primary purpose of the Staff Development Department is to provide Hospital staff with training, in-service, and continuing education programs, which enables them to effectively fulfill job requirements, meet federal and state regulatory agency training/education standards, meet the needs as identified by continuous performance improvement findings, as well as to provide professional and personal growth opportunities and to meet the requirements of various professional organizations for re-licensure and recertification.

The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate and deliver American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (BLS/CPR), Hospital Approved Techniques (HAT) and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training for Broughton Hospital employees. In addition, this position fulfills the role of Staff Development liaison to CNA Preceptors, as well as other identified BLS/CPR, HAT, and CPI trainers. The work involves the preparation and development of training programs, plans and materials; identifying training and development objectives; providing classroom instruction; and the evaluation/revision of programs as needed. Training is provided for employees during new hire orientation, annual training, and re-certifications and competency verifications are completed annually for BLS/CPR, HAT, and CPI. Additional training content, as deemed appropriate and necessary by the Staff Development Director and/or hospital leadership, may be taught in conjunction with these annual training requirements.

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess the following: 

-Documented Experience in creating training and/or educational materials.

-Documented experience in teaching adult learners.

-Documented experience in collaborating with various disciplines and/or areas within an organization.

Management Preferences (if applicable)

-2 years of documented experience in a healthcare setting.

-1 year of documented experience in a psychiatric facility.

-Certification to teach BLS/CPR and/or CPI to adult learners.

Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in a progressive training or teaching role or one year of experience in a human service, counseling, or training program in the subject matter specified; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.About the Facility:
