The NC Department of Adult Correction continuously recruits for Health Care Technician II and will accept applications regardless of whether there is a current vacancy.
The Health Care Technician II will participate in the delivery of health services for the offender population in accordance with the NC Nurse Practice Act and DAC Prisons Health Services Policy and Procedure. The Health Care Technician II will be responsible for all aspects of medication administration to include transcribing orders, ordering and storing medications and supplies, administering medication and treatments, documentation of medication administration and treatment, observing and reporting medication effectiveness, side effects and reinforcing patient education provided by the nurse and/or physician. The Health Care Technician II will provide additional nursing skills, as declared by the licensure. The Health Care Technician II must successfully complete the Medication Technician course and competency evaluation mandated by the Department of Public Safety once employed.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability and internal equity. About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC):
The Department of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare and facility operations staff, as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.Demonstrated knowledge of nursing care skills appropriate to its practice High School or General Educational Development diploma and one (1) year of related work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
