The Position
Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment.

Routine tasks are performed independently, but complex semi-skilled work is typically performed in conjunction with a journey level trades worker or Maintenance Repair Specialists. This is the journey level in the series.
Under general supervision, incumbent will perform basic plumbing work in order to maintain, repair and modify plumbing systems and fixtures; install and repair valves and fixtures and open clogged drains; basic carpentry work to maintain, repair and modify facilities and fixtures; install and repair locks, make keys, install venetian blinds, etc.; may construct special use features or objects; basic and interior painting work such as taping, texturing and patching sheetrock and masonry surfaces, setting up ladders and scaffolding, etc.; basic electrical work, including installing new parts in defective equipment, replacing ballasts on 120, 277 and 480 volt fixtures, adjusting and cleaning electronic controls; basic equipment maintenance and repair work, including tuning and adjusting equipment and/or vehicles, preventive maintenance, replacing worn or damage parts, etc.; basic welding and machine work such as shaping, joining and installing ductwork; constructing racks for storage; welding gates; repairing tools and equipment, etc. must be willing and able to assist HVAC mechanic, maintenance repair specialist, custodial, grounds maintenance and other trades when directed by supervisor. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
One year of experience performing semi-skilled work in the building and/or mechanical trades; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Some positions require a valid Class A, B, or C driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
Some positions are subject to call-back after work hours and call-out on weekends and holidays. These positions will be identified at the time of recruitment.

The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience.
